The Nine Enneagram Types

3

HEART TYPE

The Achiever

Basic description

Type Threes are driven, adaptable, and attuned to what success looks like in any room they enter. They accomplish a great deal and pull others up to perform, though they can lose contact with who they are beneath the results and the image. Their growth lies in letting themselves be valued for who they are, not only for what they produce.

Core Drivers

Belief

My value comes from what I accomplish and the image I project, not from who I am when the achieving stops.

Fear

Being worthless or a failure, and being exposed as having no value apart from achievement.

Motivation

To be successful, admired, and seen as a winner.

Focus of Attention

Goals, tasks, and how I'm being perceived.

In Growth

Three moves toward Six, becoming more loyal, cooperative, and committed to the group ahead of personal image. They let themselves be a team member rather than a solo performer, and trust starts to matter more than winning.

Under Stress

Three moves toward Nine, disengaging, going numb, and losing the drive that usually carries them. Momentum stalls and tasks blur together as they check out rather than face the possibility of failing.
